ROLL OF HONOUR

Since 1984 when Devon Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Kai was officially established nearly eighty people have attempted various levels of Dan Grade. The following are honoured having achieved the level shown by the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy and endorsed by the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Renmei, Japan.

13 people have achieved the level of San-Dan or above; those shown continue to be members.

Twelve people have achieved the level of Ni-Dan, those shown continue to be members or remembered.

Many Congratulations to Heidi Hunkin aged 16 and Alice Hunkin aged 18 on passing 1st Dan in such fine style at the end of the 2026 Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy International Winter Course in Guildford, Surrey. There were ten candidates, with just four being successful. Heidi and Alice from Frithlestock have trained at our Torrington dojo for the past ten years.

1st Dan:

Thirty six people have achieved the level of Sho-Dan; approximately 50% continue to be members with a number going onto University.
